Cloud Migration
Moving a cross-border payments app to AWS with zero disruption
A phased, no-downtime migration from DigitalOcean to AWS for a cross-border payments company, with live data kept in sync throughout.
- Zero
- Cutover downtime
- Multi-AZ
- Availability
- Preserved
- Partner tunnels
// the challenge
A cross-border payments company had outgrown its DigitalOcean setup and needed the reliability and reach of AWS — without interrupting live money movement or dropping the IPsec tunnels connecting it to banking and telecom partners.
// our approach
- Planned a phased cutover so traffic could shift gradually instead of in one risky switch.
- Rebuilt the data tier on Multi-AZ RDS, ElastiCache, and EFS for high availability.
- Used AWS DMS with change data capture to keep databases in sync until the final cutover.
- Re-established the IPsec tunnels to partners so integrations kept working through the move.
// the outcome
The application now runs on highly available AWS infrastructure with no disruption to payments during the migration, and every partner integration stayed live through the cutover.
